Agadir Airport to Marrakech
Marrakech is 235 km and the best part of three hours up the A7 — the longest of the standard runs from AGA. Here's the straight comparison: a private car to the door from about €120, versus the much cheaper Supratours coach that doesn't leave from the airport.
Plenty of people land at Agadir and then realise their actual destination is Marrakech — a connecting fare was cheaper, or the trip pairs the coast with the imperial city. It's a real journey: 235 km inland on the A7 motorway, roughly 2¾ to 3¼ hours. That distance changes the maths compared with a short coastal hop, so it's worth weighing a private transfer against the intercity coach honestly before you book.
Private transfer or the coach?
There's no train to Marrakech from this side, and no useful flight, so the decision is car versus bus:
- Private transfer — meets you in arrivals, drives you straight to the riad door, and you control the stops. From about €120 for the whole car, so for three or four travellers the per-head cost is reasonable. The simplest option with luggage or after a late landing.
- Supratours / CTM coach — genuinely good intercity buses at roughly 130–160 MAD a seat, but they leave from the bus stations in Agadir, not the airport. Factor in a taxi into town and the schedule, and the saving shrinks for couples.
- Rental car — fine if you'll keep the car in Marrakech, but a one-way drop fee and city driving in the medina put many people off.
The honest truth about the bus
The Supratours and CTM coaches are comfortable, air-conditioned and cheap, and for a solo traveller on a budget they're hard to beat. The catch is that neither serves the airport — you first need to get the 22 km into Agadir to reach the bus station, then wait for a departure, then ride three hours, then taxi from Marrakech's coach terminal to your riad. It works, but it turns a single transfer into a four-step day. For two or more people with bags, a direct private car often wins on time and stress even though it costs more.

What the drive is like
The A7 is a modern toll motorway and the easiest long drive in the region — dual carriageway most of the way, climbing gently inland from the coast through the argan country before the Haouz plain opens out towards Marrakech. A private driver will usually fold in one coffee stop if you ask. There's nothing technical about it, but it is three hours: don't book a tight onward connection or a dinner reservation off the back of the transfer, and keep water and snacks to hand if you've children aboard.
Coming the other way and want the coast instead? Compare the airport to Essaouira run, which pairs neatly with Marrakech on a loop. Still weighing your options for the whole trip? Our best transfer guide ranks the providers, and the transfers hub covers every route from AGA.
