Agadir Airport to Mirleft

Mirleft is 150 km down the south coast — about 2½ hours via Tiznit to a low-key village of coves, surfers and paragliders, with the red arches of Legzira beach just down the road. Here's what the transfer costs and how to get there.

Mirleft is where people go to escape the resort side of Agadir — a small, low-rise village strung along the south coast, with a run of quiet coves, a surf and paragliding scene, and the famous red sandstone of Legzira beach a few kilometres down the road. It sits about 150 km south of the airport, roughly 2¼ to 2½ hours by road via Tiznit. There's no train and no direct bus from the terminal, so it's a private transfer or a long-haul grand taxi.

Getting there from the airport

Two realistic ways down south:

  • Private transfer — meets you in arrivals and drives the full 150 km to your guesthouse, which helps in a village where places are scattered and signage is thin. From about €100 for the car.
  • Grand taxi — does the run if you negotiate hard at the rank, but for this distance and the quieter southern roads a pre-booked fixed price is the simpler, calmer call. Agree the full fare before loading.
  • Rental car — a good fit if you'll explore the south coast — Legzira, Sidi Ifni, the coves — under your own steam over several days.

Legzira beach down the road

The reason a lot of people land on Mirleft is Legzira — a wild stretch of red sandstone cliffs and empty beach a short way south on the road towards Sidi Ifni, glowing copper at sunset. It's an easy side trip from Mirleft, and a private driver will often fold a Legzira stop into the transfer or run you out separately. (One note for repeat visitors: one of Legzira's twin natural arches collapsed some years back; the beach and remaining arch are still spectacular.)

What the drive is like

The quick part is the main road south to Tiznit, fast and straight across the plain. After Tiznit you peel off towards the coast on narrower, gently winding roads down to Mirleft — relaxed driving through open Souss countryside with the Atlantic appearing as you near the village. Nothing demanding, but it's two-plus hours and services thin out the further south you go, so set off with a full tank, water and your guesthouse's location saved.

Local tip Time the run so you reach Legzira for late afternoon. The cliffs turn deep red as the sun drops and the tide pulls back to leave a vast mirror of wet sand — it's the south coast at its best, and a far better first impression than arriving in the flat midday light.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Mirleft from Agadir airport?
About 150 km down the south coast, roughly 2¼ to 2½ hours by road. You head south through Tiznit and then out to the coast — there is no train and no direct bus from the airport, so it is a private transfer or a long-haul grand taxi negotiated at the rank.
How much is a transfer from Agadir airport to Mirleft?
A private door-to-door transfer starts around €100 for the whole car. For 150 km a fixed price agreed before you fly is usually calmer than haggling a grand taxi, and reliable for the quieter roads down south. Prices checked June 2026.
Is Legzira beach near Mirleft?
Yes — Legzira, with its dramatic red sandstone arch and long empty sands, sits just a few kilometres south of Mirleft on the road towards Sidi Ifni. Most people staying in Mirleft visit Legzira for sunset; a private driver can fold it into the transfer or take you out separately.
How long does the drive to Mirleft take?
Plan on 2¼ to 2½ hours. The fast part is the road south to Tiznit; after that you turn off towards the coast on quieter, more winding roads down to Mirleft. It is a relaxed drive through Souss countryside rather than a motorway sprint.
What is Mirleft like?
A small, laid-back coastal village that draws surfers, paragliders and people after a quiet stretch of the Atlantic. Low-rise, a clutch of guesthouses and cafés, a string of coves nearby and Legzira down the road — it is the antidote to resort Agadir, and the long transfer keeps it that way.
