Agadir Airport to Sidi Ifni
Sidi Ifni is 165 km down the south coast — about 2¾ hours via Tiznit and Legzira to a faded Spanish-colonial port town that looks like nowhere else in Morocco. Here's what the transfer costs and how to plan the run.
Sidi Ifni doesn't feel like the rest of Morocco's coast, and that's the point. Held by Spain until 1969, it kept the bones of a colonial town — faded Art Deco façades, a formal old plaza, a clifftop setting above big Atlantic surf — and the result is a slow, slightly melancholy port town that travellers fall for. It sits about 165 km south of the airport, roughly 2½ to 2¾ hours via Tiznit and Legzira. There's no train and no direct bus, so it's a private transfer or a long-haul grand taxi.
Getting there from the airport
Two realistic ways down the south coast:
- Private transfer — meets you in arrivals and drives the full 165 km to your guesthouse, which matters this far south where places are scattered and the journey is long. From about €110 for the car.
- Grand taxi — does the run if you negotiate hard, but over this distance and the quieter southern roads a pre-booked fixed price is the simpler, more reliable choice. Agree the full fare and destination before loading.
- Rental car — a strong option if you'll explore the south coast over several days, looping Legzira, Mirleft and Sidi Ifni at your own pace.

The Spanish-colonial town
Sidi Ifni's character is its history. The Spanish only handed it back in 1969, and they left behind a town built to a plan — a central plaza, Art Deco public buildings now gently weathering, blue-and- white streets sloping down towards the sea. It's a working port with a real fishing fleet, big surf rolling in off the Atlantic, and a light that photographers love. Come for the atmosphere and the sense of having reached somewhere off the usual circuit, not for resort polish.
Breaking the journey at Legzira
The drive down passes Legzira beach, the wild stretch of red sandstone cliffs between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni. It's worth telling your driver in advance if you'd like to stop — it breaks up the two-and-three-quarter-hour run and is genuinely one of the south coast's highlights, best in the low light of late afternoon. From Legzira it's a short final leg on into Sidi Ifni.
